HEADLINE: DCSD participates in USDA Summer Food Service Program through December

The USDA has issued nationwide waivers which allow school districts and community organizations to extend the operation of the Summer Food Service Program into the current school year through December 31, 2020, or until available funding runs out.


Decorah Community School District is participating in the USDA Summer Food Service

Program during this time, which will allow for a safe and streamlined service of nutritious meals. Meals will be provided to all enrolled children without charge. Free meals will be provided at these sites: West Side Early Childhood Center, John Cline Elementary, Carrie Lee Elementary, Decorah Middle School, Decorah High School, and St. Benedict School.

Full time Online Learners can pick up a week’s worth of breakfasts and lunches each Wednesday. Those interested can arrange pick up by calling the Nutrition Services Director Chad Elliott at 563-382-5904.

USDA.  Persons with disabilities who require alternative means of communication for program information (e.g. Braille, large print, audiotape, American Sign Language),  should contact the agency (state or local) where they applied for benefits.  Individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have speech disabilities may contact USDA through the Federal Relay Service at (800) 877-8339.  Additionally, program information may be made available in languages other than English.

To file a program complaint of discrimination, people are asked to complete the online USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form (AD-3027) or at any USDA office, or write a letter addressed to USDA and provide in the letter all of the information requested in the form. To request a copy of the complaint form, those interested can call (866) 632-9992. They are asked to submit their completed form or letter to USDA by
